Lie #13: “God is a narcissist.”

The Christian God is a jealous God, or so I was told. Everything has to be about him, and if it’s not about him, he’ll make it about him. Your suffering? It’s for his glory. Your behavior? It’s a reflection on him. Your job? To protect his reputation. Your purpose? To worship him forever. Why do we so blithely assign character and personality traits to God that if we saw them in a human being would drive us to say, “That guy is a real a$$hole”? Are there two completely different sets of rules? Welcome to Christianity. Included in your new member packet is a truckload of cognitive dissonance. We hope you’ll enjoy it with our compliments.
